MEN AND WOMEN OF MINING Digital travelling Exhibition Cover

Men and Women of Mining – Travelling exhibition

The exhibition Men and Women of Mining is a project promoted by the European Federation of Mining Routes of Santa Barbara (MINES.B), created to celebrate the memory, culture, and heritage of the territories that share a common mining history.
Through a selection of archival photographs and visual narratives, the exhibition pays tribute to the men and women who devoted their lives to mining — protagonists of a story made of hard work, solidarity, and pride.

Project Partners

The exhibition was made possible thanks to the collaboration and contribution of the partners of the MINES.B Federation:

  • Les Sentiers de Grande Randonnée – GR412 (Belgium)
  • Mission Bassin Minier (France)
  • Fondazione Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara (Italy)
  • Le Bois du Cazier (Belgium)
  • Comarca Andorra Sierra de Arcos (Spain)
  • Idrija Mercury Heritage Management Centre (Slovenia)

Thanks to their commitment, a valuable photographic archive has been collected, documenting the everyday life in the mines — the faces, the gestures, and the stories of European mining communities — offering an authentic and shared testimony of the continent’s industrial past.

A TRAVELLING, and now, DIGITAL exhibition

Men and Women of Mining is an itinerant exhibition, hosted in the various partner countries of the MINES.B Federation.
Its digital version makes this visual heritage accessible to everyone, allowing visitors to explore the images, stories, and emotions of a legacy that continues to live on through the places and people who keep its memory alive.
