The Les Sentiers de Grande Randonnée asbl is a nonprofit association in Belgium that promotes and supports longdistance hiking across Wallonia. It is responsible for the planning, marking and publication of trail guides for many of the GR (Grande Randonnée) routes in the region, including the GR 412 Sentier des Terrils. The association’s work extends to maintaining and enhancing hiking infrastructure, producing detailed topographical guides, and raising awareness of walking tourism, all with the aim of encouraging people to explore Belgium’s landscapes on foot.
In collaboration with volunteers and partner organisations, the association ensures that GR trails are wellmarked with the familiar white and red waymarks, offers resources such as maps and GPX tracks, and publishes magazines and guides to support hikers of all levels. Through these activities, it fosters a culture of outdoor exploration and deepens appreciation for the diversity of Belgium’s natural, historical and cultural environments.
