Prof. Pilar Biel Ibáñez

Prof. Pilar Biel Ibáñez is Full Professor of Art History at the University of Zaragoza and Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage Management. She is a member of the Vestigium Research Group and of the Institute of Historical Heritage at the University of Zaragoza.

Her main research areas include industrial heritage, the history of public works, and mining landscapes, with particular reference to the region of Aragón and territories characterized by coal mining during the 20th century. She has published extensively on mining heritage in Spain, conservation criteria, and processes of heritage recognition and transformation of former thermal power plants and decommissioned industrial sites.

Her work makes a significant contribution to scientific reflection on the protection and enhancement of European mining landscapes.
