Caminos Mineros: The New Mining Routes of the Comarca Andorra Sierra de Arcos

From 16 to 18 October 2025, the MWINAS Mining Museum – Pozo de San Juan (Andorra, Teruel) will host an event of great significance for the promotion of Europe’s mining cultural heritage: the official presentation of the Caminos Mineros project, five routes that weave together landscape, identity, and the memory of mining work.

A double anniversary and a special occasion

The initiative coincides with the 20th anniversary of the MWINAS Mining Museum, a landmark institution of the Comarca Andorra Sierra de Arcos. On this occasion, the local community will have the chance to discover the new Caminos Mineros, designed to combine cultural and slow tourism with historical memory.

The annual meeting of the MINES.B Federation

The event will also host the annual meeting of the Federation MINES. It will be a key moment for international dialogue, bringing together representatives from Italy, Slovenia, Belgium, Slovakia, and Portugal, all committed to enhancing their respective mining routes.

Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe

One of the most significant moments will be the contribution of Sergio Ortega Muñoz, Head of the Service for Heritage Protection and European Programmes at the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Representative of Spain to the EPA Governing Board (European Institute of Cultural Routes) and currently Vice-Chair of the EPA Governing Board. His presence will provide an opportunity to explore the Cultural Routes Programme of the Council of Europe, an initiative that recognizes transnational networks of heritage and memory. These itineraries connect places, traditions, and communities across borders, showing how shared cultural heritage can strengthen dialogue, sustainable development, and a sense of European identity.

Youth and memory: the documentary Voices from the Mines

The event will also feature the premiere of “Voices from the Mines”, a documentary produced by young filmmakers selected through an international competition promoted by the MINES.B Federation. The film sheds light on the experiences and stories of mining communities, creating a dialogue between past and present and strengthening the link between youth and shared heritage.

An invitation to the community

The event will not only be a meeting point for experts and institutions: through community walks, screenings, and cultural activities, the entire local community will be actively involved in a journey that looks to the future, starting from the strength of mining memory.
